Our Story
Study Bitcoin was founded in 2023 by Cordy Joseph and Jvar Vsev during the pre-accelerator program at Bitcoin Startup Labs. What began as a collaborative experiment quickly evolved into a mission: to make digital identity simple, human, and anchored in Bitcoin.
During the program, Cordy and Jvar spotted a major gap—most identity systems were either too technical or too centralized. They envisioned something better: a handle-based identity layer that's intuitive, open-source, and built for a future filled with agents, apps, and AI.
That vision became HNDL (Handle Naming Decentralized Ledger)—a protocol that bridges the familiarity of usernames with the power of decentralized identity, secured by Rootstock and designed to onboard the next billion users.
